Quick Travel Update (Dec 10/02)

Had an awesome weekend - another update already! (just a quick one before I take off to the coast :) I went to Nairobi National Park on Friday, which is a 135 sq-km game park starting practically right downtown. Saw lotsa giraffes and then had supper at the boss' place (Sally). This occasion was in the honour of the Belgium staff that we have visiting - I have the financial controller (Olivier) as my neighbour at Ratna apts. right now, so I got invited by default :) Then went to the Great Rift Valley Lodge/golf resort on Sat-Sun with Adil and friends - totally luxe :)

I'm looking forward to the trip to Mombasa - it's an overnight train leaving 7pm on Wed and I arrive at 7am the next day. Going with Anthony from work and staying with relatives & friends, so all will be safe!! (no touristy traps, bombings, etc.). I can hardly wait to get to the ocean - my skin is suffering without benefit of salt air/water!! I return on the 17th. Then I've got the whole South Africa trip arranged leaving the following weekend...

here's my holiday itinerary:
Dec 11th Train to Mombasa (arrive 12th)
Dec 16th Bus to Nairobi (arrive 17th)
Dec 20th Xmas party in Nairobi at boss' place (Sally)
Dec 23rd 8am flight to Joburg, bus to East London (arrive 24th)
Dec 24-26 Cinsta (outside of East London)- camping w/ Cdn friends (NetCorps)
Dec 26-28 Mossel Bay/Knysa-?
Dec 28 Go to Cape Town- Friend's place
Jan 4 Leave Cape Town
Jan 5 Flight to Nbi

So, not much time for work - hehehe :) Good thing, I'm itching to travel. This is such a BEAUTIFUL part of the world, I must explore!!

I hear the family got my Christmas parcel - whew!! Glad it got there ok - cost CAD$50 to send!! I hope I get mine before I leave, but no matter as long as it arrives!!!

Congrats to Dayna on securing a damned good position at Nova Scotia Power - she's reuniting with exPPers Brian & Todd! And I hear Beckett's off to Maine?? To warp small children's minds??? (same course as Danette actually!)

V & Shan - say hello to Oma for me - I'm jealous!! Make sure you go to Uisce Bahn - even if it's snowy!!
GD - checking hotmail in Florida yet??
sonJa/Donna/et al - any trips to this side of the world planned yet?????
Jake - sell my motorbike - I need $$$ ;)

Don't worry if you don't hear from me until next week sometime, but my phone still works and I'll pop into an internet cafe (assuming there's one handy) - I'm so excited!!
