Johanna Voerman left her home and native land, Canada, to embark on a Kenyan adventure - volunteer IT consulting work for a humanitarian aid organization, VSF-Belgium. The mission was sponsored by NetCorps, a Canadian  government programme, and administered by CUSO. Little did she know that in just a few weeks, she would meet her future husband. Anthony Wamalwa Khisa also worked for VSF-Belgium as a Logistician, in Lokichoggio, which is a UN base camp next to the Sudan border. Johanna was sent to train someone in a tech support role for this remote office, and it turned out to be Anthony...

We were married on August 23rd, in Nova Scotia, Canada - my first trip home after living in Africa for a year! The timing was perfect. Of course I wanted Anthony to meet my family, and it seemed like a great time to have a casual beach wedding at my parents' cottage. It was a spectacular day, with loads of my friends and family enjoying the sun & sand. Anthony just loved Canada!

For the first year or so that I was in Kenya, I sent emails back to my friends and family about my impressions and activities. Little did I know that people would actually read them! So I decided I'd put them all together on this site. Enjoy.
